Play of Light on Water is now officially launched in New Zealand and Australia!
Many thanks to all my family and friends, the librarians who volunteered to organise the launch, and all supporters and helpers of the Words on the Waves Writers Festival who found their way to Tuggerah Library to make the book launch such a success. I really appreciate it. Over seventy people attended and were in a jolly mood, helped along by the champagne supplied by the Writers Festival and the smorgasbord of snacks prepared by the presenting authors.
The evening began with Tim and friend engaged in witty repartee about his book, a new version of Pride and Prejudice full of vigilantes and martial arts.
Following that was difficult but Bridget O’Sullivan bravely stood up, introduced me and said nice things about me and the work of the members of the U3A Writing Group. I engaged the audience with stories about why I wrote the novel and the challenges I faced during my six weeks research visit to New Zealand. A chance encounter with a local fisherman as I strolled the wharves my first day in Picton, set the fishermen’s “bush” telegraph alight, so I did not have to worry about explaining who I was or what I was doing prowling the boats again!
Myfanwy completed the presentations introducing us to her dark novel about murders and suicides – do we know which is which?
