For Ellen, a fishing village in the glorious Marlborough Sounds of New Zealand is the perfect refuge in which to create a new life after finally leaving an emotionally abusive marriage.

Following the recent death of her daughter, and with her son away travelling overseas, Ellen is seeking peace and emotional independence, but has little support on which to draw.

Tom, a fisherman, attractive and single, has managed to bury the guilt of his past, set up a successful fishing business and is living a seemingly stable, quiet life.

When Tom and Ellen collide, their attraction is overwhelming.

But earlier traumas of domestic violence and addiction stalk their relationship.
